Contiki, Arles

This will be one of the shorter entries, as we didn’t spend long in Arles, and I’ve got few memories of the place.

To start though, I need to go back to the night before. After everyone had gone to bed, or while we were still going to bed, my memory of the night is a little hazy, Dennis, an American lad from San Diego, decided to start running around the campsite, taking out tents. Continue reading

Contiki, Barcelona

We were supposed to start the day with a driving tour of the city, taking in the Olympic Games complex, the marinas, Christopher Columbus’ statute looking out to the sea and the Moorish inspired twin towers amongst other locations. Due to the World Cup game having been played and televised in the city centre the night before, most of the roads were closed off. Those that weren’t, were strewn with plastic beer cups and hot dog rolls. There was no one to be seen on any of the streets, barring a few weary looking police officers, manning portable barriers and directing traffic. It was a rather bizarre scene, the streets of Barcelona being so dead, given it was around nine in the morning, on a weekday. You’d have been forgiven for thinking it was siesta time, in a way, I guess it was, a kinda post beer-y siesta at that. Continue reading

After an early rise, a breakfast I can’t remember and a quick packing of the coach as most of us had opted not to erect tents, we were off. I can’t remember what time we left, but I’m sure it was early. We were told that today was to be our longest travel day on the coach, little did we know at that stage it’d be a fair bit longer than anticipated… Continue reading

Contiki, London to Paris

Well over due for another blog entry here, it’s going to be pretty tough trying to remember the seven weeks I spent travelling around Europe, I did start with good intentions and take a journal along with me, but I got lazy and gave up writing in it, I found it pretty hard to find free time in between all the sightseeing (and drinking). So here goes nothing…

The trip was amazing, 46 days of non stop fun, I wasn’t really sure how it would be, I was anticipating that there’d be a heap of meat headed jocks on the tour Continue reading

Kuala Lumpur Day Three

Started the day again with fried noodles and chicken sausages, more toast and coffee, breakfast of champions, surely. I wanted to head back out to Chinatown today, try my luck at a bit of haggling, see if I could pick up an Australian Football jersey and if I felt game enough eat from the side of the street. I still hadn’t tried this, I was up to my third day, I think mainly it was due to being spoiled for choice, there was so much on offer, part of me was a bit hesitant due to possibly ingesting some seafood – I’m not all that keen on it, and the tiniest bit could be likely to ruin my meal, or even night, but I planned to give it a go sometime soon. Kuala Lumpur, Day One

I decided a long time ago that I wanted to visit the United Kingdom. I wanted to see where my family came from. Visit the relatives I’ve only met a handful of times, when they’ve visited Australia. Meet those relatives that I’ve only heard of and seen in photographs. Go to a Celtic game at Parkhead, go out for a curry, followed by lager, lager, lager… I had originally planned to head there not long after my trip to the eastern states of Australia, but that left me a little poorer and wiser, so I had to get a job, buckle down, and save hard. I sacrificed my social life, amongst other things, but it was worth it.. I’m now off to the United Kingdom and beyond.. It begins in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Continue reading

spare time.. yeah, right..

Not updating here anywhere near often enough. That said, this is going to be a really short one.

Started a new job recently and I haven’t had time to scratch myself let alone update the blog. I have, however, resumed uploading photos to flickr from my holiday on the East Coast of Australia from… erm last year… So, if you’ve nothing better to do, give em a look see. Link’s on the right hand side there.
